Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are ultra thin custom made shells that are bonded to your existing teeth. Once bonded they are almost as strong as an intact tooth, and have a translucency and polish that can look like an incredibly beautiful natural tooth. The bonding process keeps the veneers sealed from decay for many years. With excellent home care and regular professional cleanings, veneers can last many years. Veneers can be used to close large spaces, whiten severely discolored teeth, straighten moderately crooked teeth without braces, rebuild broken teeth, and lengthen worn teeth. Since they are all porcelain, there is no ugly metal edge to show at your gum line. They blend naturally to create the illusion that no dental work has been done.
Porcelain Crowns
Recent technology has created porcelains that are much closer in strength to natural teeth than ever before. Full crowns are needed when an entire tooth has been damaged by fracture ore decay. For the ultimate in aesthetics, crowns can cover an entire tooth and rebuild it with all porcelain materials bonded to the tooth. There is no ugly metal line next to the gums, so they can be placed on front and side teeth that show when you smile. Long term success can be achieved with these materials when used in appropriate situations.Dr Short has placed hundreds of all porcelain restorations over the past 15 years and can recommend the best material to restore your damaged teeth.
Porcelain and Composite Inlays and Onlays
Large silver mercury fillings are not only a cosmetic problem, but they can actually encourage a tooth to fracture due to slow expansion of the filling material over time. Porcelain and porcelain composite laboratory made onlays that are aesthetically beautiful and can be bonded into very large cavities. Ask Dr Short if a porcelain onlay is the best way to restore your back teeth with large silver mercury fillings.
Porcelain Bridges
New amazingly strong porcelains can actually be used in bridges to replace missing teeth. These beautiful new materials have been used successfully in thousands of cases around the world. Dr. Bader has placed many of these exciting new bridges. The missing teeth look like they naturally fit in your gum like real teeth. He would be thrilled to evaluate your bridge to see if an all porcelain replacement is appropriate.
Whitening or Bleaching
ZOOM whitening is the most common and successful cosmetic procedure in dentistry today. You already know that the products used by your dentist are the safest and most effective available. It is not likely that you can achieve results as good with any available over the counter product. Dr. Short uses only the most highly rated and thoroughly tested products for whitening. You can have your teeth whitened in the office in one short visit, or you can have custom fit trays made to do the whitening at home in about 10 days. Whitening is often done even before veneers, since lighter teeth to start can make brighter more natural veneers in the end.
Composite Tooth Colored Fillings
Composite tooth colored fillings are made of a resin filled with microscopic porcelain particles. The strength of current composites is similar to the strength of silver mercury fillings. The enormous advantage of composite fillings is that they are bonded to the teeth during placement. For small to moderate sized cavities, Dr. Bader uses composite fillings exclusively due to their beauty and strength. Larger cavities require a porcelain or composite onlay to properly restore the entire shape and function of a broken or decayed tooth.
Implant Crowns
If you are missing one or more teeth, implants may be the most aesthetic way to replace them. In some instances all porcelain crowns can be made for implants as well. Dr. Short has been restoring implants since 1987, and he can give you the best advice regarding the replacement of your missing teeth.
Neuromuscular Cosmetic Reconstruction
If your bite is very uneven due to wear, missing teeth or misalignment, you can have your teeth restored with Neuromuscular Cosmetic Reconstruction. A careful evaluation of your existing bite is done, and then your perfect bite can be established with a special measuring system. Patients with headaches, jaw pain, neck and shoulder pain, as well as chronic ear problems often find that restoring their ideal bite reduces or eliminates these neuromuscular symptoms.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Are you ready for a beautiful smile but too nervous to sit in the chair? Oral Conscious Sedation is perfect for you. A combination of safe, effective pills are given to you to relax you gently and allow you to comfortably have all your cosmetic treatment done. It is great for people who gag or have trouble keeping their mouths open as well. Oral Conscious Sedation can make it easier for you to have more treatment done in a single easy visit.
